Weekly Letter #56: December 1st, 2020

Merry Christmas everyone! Now that we have Thanksgiving out of the way, it is officially time for Christmas! Also, I’m not going to lie, I am concerned about the amount of emails I had asking what people do to celebrate Thanksgiving over here. Just for clarification, England doesn't really celebrate a group of their people leaving their country. Weird, I know.

With that out of the way, here comes a rundown from the past two weeks:

TRANSFERS ALREADY?
Folks, time is going so quickly it's actually insane. How has it been 6 weeks? How is it December? All of these things are questions I wish I had the answer to. Please send me an email if you know why time is vrooming by so quickly.

Anywho.

It has been 6 weeks. For those of you who don't know, or for those of you who don't remember, every 6 weeks, there comes a chance that you could be moved to a different area, you could have a different companion, you could have a different assignment, or you could stay the exact same for the next six weeks. Unfortunately, Sister Johnson is actually going home because she's been here for 18 months, so unfortunately (and fortunately), I am getting a new companion! However, I am still staying in Stretford, and I still have my assignment.

COMPANION?
This then begs another question - who is your next companion? Folks, do I have a surprise for you. I am actually getting 2 new companions! As a little bit of background context, the Europe Area presidency reached out to the EMM and asked for 2 companionships during the month of December that will run the UK Facebook page, and will run the referral management system for the UK. Turns out, one of those companionships that we recommended are actually going to be my companions. I don't know either of them very well to be completely honest, so I’ll have an update on them next week. Also, to be completely honest, I don't know what is going to happen with all of these different assignments so if my explanation confused you, it confuses me too.

THANKSGIVING?
My dear companion, Sister Johnson, and I had the most splendid Thanksgiving in the whole entire world. We had Nando's, we had ice cream cones, and we partied hard by watching Thanksgiving church videos and Thanksgiving devotionals. Life is good.

ENGLAND?
We're exiting our second national lockdown next week hopefully! Yay! It still blows my mind when I see pictures of people in other countries (@ the USA) in groups of 50+ people not wearing masks hanging out. It weirds me out so much. It makes me uncomfortable if there are more than 10 people around me not wearing masks! Weird.

THE END?
Overall, this transfer has been wonderful. I loved and still love Sister Johnson. I have learned so much from her and am so grateful for the time I was able to spend with her. RIP to her. The good ones die young folks.

Much love to everyone, and sorry if I don't have time to respond to you today!
